I am taking a month-long break from tumblr (and Facebook, and BuzzFeed, and YouTube, and all of the other sites that I so frequently use to not do work.) I have been having trouble staying focused, so I’m just eliminating the distractions entirely. I think that it will help me get through this last bit of term much easier.
If anyone else ever needs to do the same thing, I’m using the SelfControl app, because I doubt I have enough of that to do this on sheer willpower. It allows users to create a blacklist a list of sites that are inaccessible through the user’s computer for a set period of time - it’s quite impossible to get around, even by uninstalling the application.
Additionally, although it only allows for a 24-hour block, the length of the block can be manually altered through Terminal. So, that’s that. Goodbye fun internet! See you this summer!
for some reason, people’s ideas about gender always go back about 50 years when it comes to trans people. cis people can present themselves in all kinds of ways, and do all kinds of different activities, but if you’re trans then you can’t have a variety of interests or your own style.
people think im trans because i want to do Man Stuff like wear cargo shorts and baseball caps and be a CEO and play first-person shooters. somehow they don’t take the time to remember that there are women do these things, and that not all men do these things. “man stuff” and “woman stuff” is a fake idea for cis men and women, and it’s a fake idea for everyone else too.
ugh, correct. And when I want to be a boy doing things that are subversive for boys (drag face, skirts,) I’m still terrified that I’ll be perceived as a girl. I’m glad that I am comfortable with T and the changes it’s having; a beard will help me do things I like and not be misgendered. This problem is a lot less immediately fixable for folx who aren’t into the idea of HRT. :/
